How it Works

Overview

Here is an overview of how the share scheme works;

  • Most importantly, you own the boat.
  • A 10% share provides 33 days per year plus approximately 15 extra standby days. (A 2009 survey found that the average usage of all individually owned recreational boats was just 25 days per year).
  • The syndication agreement usually has a 3 year term after which the boat is sold and you receive 10% of the sales price back.
  • Decide where in Queensland you want your vessel to be berthed and managed e.g. Marina Mirage, Sanctuary Cove, Gold Coast, Manly or Hamilton Island.
  • Ongoing costs cover everything such as the berth, servicing, maintenance, cleaning, insurance and registration. Fuel is not included.
  • A fixed monthly management fee is charged plus ongoing costs which are divided equally for each owner according to percentage share.
  • Our management fee provides a total "walk-on and walk-off" service to provide the owners with a convenient and worry-free environment. It includes;
    • a fully maintained and cleaned vessel inside and out
    • fuelled, watered, safety checked and ready to depart from the marina at your chosen time,
    • hotel-style services such as linen, towels, bathroom accessories, ice, weather reports & travel information,
    • fully kitted out kitchen equipment for self-servicing needs particularly during those overnight or longer trips
    • sports and safety equipment on board
    • access to marine support and rescue services 24 hours per day

Our syndication and management services provides flexibility to suit your lifestyle choices, time and budget in the following ways:

  • in time (2, or 3 year contract terms typically)
  • mooring locations to suit budget, marina facilities and travel distances
  • number of shares per boat (5%, 10% 20% and 25%)
  • size and type of vessels to suit everyone's lifestyle needs.

Each owner is entitled to a certain minimum number of days usage of the boat per year. For example:

10% share = minimum 33 days per year
20% share = minimum 66 days per year.

Each owner books their entitlement four months in advance as single days or extended holiday periods as they please.  Additional standby days are always available, particularly during the week and this typically gives you an extra 15 days per year, per 10% share. Bookings can be changed at anytime without penalty.

Cost Structure

We charge a fixed monthly management fee plus ongoing costs divided equally for each owner according to percentage share. The ongoing costs are set annually and itemised to enable each owner to budget.  Ongoing costs include mooring, service and maintenance, cleaning, insurance and registration.

All of the boats are new, commissioned straight from the manufacturer with a warranty service and routine maintenance programme included in your costs up front.

At the end of the contract term, the boat is sold and the net sale proceeds are returned to each owner according to their share. All boats depreciate but this is minimised due to the immaculate care and thorough attention each boat is given to achieve the maximum resale value.

3 Easy Steps

Step One

Select the type and size of boat under our "Syndications" tab according to your lifestyle needs and then arrange an inspection with us.

Step Two

Secure your boat by submitting an Expression of Interest as early as possible and confirm what percentage of ownership you require. Upon receipt, we will send you a contract, final payment instructions and confirm the commencement date.

Step Three

Get you on to your boat as soon as possible with a personalised 1-2 day training course. This will enable you to familiarise yourself with the safety and operational features and procedures of the boat, including berthing and anchoring. We will also introduce you to the online booking system. After this, you are ready to go!

A happy and longterm relationship with all of our boat owners is of utmost value to us; however, circumstances change and we understand that you may decide to sell your share before the end of the contract term.  We also understand that you may want to upgrade to a larger boat midway through your contract term.  Whatever the reasons, we can facilitate the process for you without incurring penalties.
